關於歌詞中出現的瑪莉亞，保羅麥卡尼後來在2001年接受媒體訪問時表示，
那其實是指他的母親，因為保羅麥卡尼小時候數學不好，每次碰到令他頭痛的數學題，
母親總是會安慰他別太在意，順其自然就好。
